My journey into becoming a photographer has been a long one! It all started when I was little and pretended I had my first camera, which was actually a Viewmaster toy. I would run around and make everyone look at the pictures and pretend that I took them! I have always loved looking at pictures, I still do! I have boxes and boxes of old pictures that I will rummage thru from time to time, and of course I always end up emotional and crying! Its the memories I love and I love to capture other peoples memories in hopes they can look back and get alittle emotional as I do.
My journey moves on to my grandmothers Polaroid camera! I can here her now yelling at me because she would go to take a picture and I had used up all her film and flashes!! And as you can see below I always wanted pictures taken of me!!
Moving along when I was 9 I received my first real camera, a Kodak 110! That was everything to me... except no-one would buy me film because I went thru it to quick! Fast forward, when I was 18 I received an Olympus 35MM and it was on and popping from there!! LOL. I think the guy at the good ol' Fotomat was sick of seeing me every other day dropping off another roll of film to get developed, and yes I still have some of the negatives!!! As you can see my first model was super cute, but also from the look on his face tired of me or was he just tired of that pose I made him do all the time?!?! :)
It moves on to my Kodak zoom camera that I received as a gift so I could zoom in on Guy playing sports! Well that was it for a while until about 4 years ago a friend of mine sold me her old Canon Rebel! I was in pure heaven until I figured out I needed a full frame camera if I really wanted to be better than what I was. So I bought my Canon Mark 5D3. And from here the story moves on to the people that helped me along the way. It wasn't done over night, surely not by myself and I still learn new things all the time.
So Let me take a moment to tell you about how these individuals have helped me on my journey...
First Jessica Moog, she sold me the Rebel and then spent some time with me, teaching me how to use it, practiced and gave me lots of pointers to get me started!
I also bugged Adrian Snead with A.S. Photography often, He would answer all of my questions and took me out on one of his shoots to show me some lighting techniques. You can see his work at www.asnead.smugmug.com.
Then it moves on to me finding a mentor for my photography business, I googled and found Sharon Hundley with Sharon Elizabeth Photography. She taught me so much during that mentor session! When it came time to actually go out and do the shooting part of my mentor session, I cried when I saw the photos I took while shooting along side of her. (below) Of course we had a beautiful model Mrs Darian Holmes with Darian Nicole Photography which you can see her work on facebook or instagram! Sharon took me from being a hobbiest to a photographer!
Fast forward a few months, I decided to reach out to Sharon about assisting her girls on a wedding to see if it was something I wanted to pursue. I had a great time and reached back out to let her know I was interested in being one of her assistants when she hired again. Well she reached back out and I had an interview within a week and low and behold not to much longer I was a SEP Girl and became a second shooter for one of her teams. I was with SEP for two years and took so much away from it! Below are a couple images I took while second shooting for her team! You can view her beautiful work and all that she offers at www.sharonelizabethphotography.com.
I can't forget about Justin and Sarah Lovell with Lovell Productions, I needed certain gear to work for Sharon, which I didn't have it all at first, so she trusted me to use some of her expensive lenses as well as giving me a few tips here and there! Please visit her page to see some of their beautiful videography work at www.lovellproductions.com.
While working for Sharon, I was on Ashely Acey's team! She was the first shooter and oh boy did she put up with the questions and my nerves! See Ashley is a light girl.. You see the sun? Well point at it and take a picture! Not really but that's what it felt like at times LOL. It pushed me to not be scared of some sunlight and to not always look for the shadowy areas to shoot in. I must thank her for that. I like the sun now and whenever I nail a picture with some sunlight shining threw someones hair, I get excited and silently thank her in my head! You must take a look at her amazing work at www.ashley-dawn-photography.com.
And I can't forget about my girl Meagan with Meghan Lupyan Photography! She has received a few calls and text messages filled with questions over the last couple of years! Pop on over and check her work out at http://meghanlupyanphotography.com.
Well that's a little bit more about me, how I fell in love with pictures and taking them! I am an emotional girl at heart and being able to look back at years past from a photograph means alot to me!! I hope you visit my friends pages and show them some love too!
Thanks to my friends who have helped me along the way, I couldn't have done it without you!
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and keep coming back!!!
Feel free to leave a comment and show me some love!!!
